Meet a selection of the World Hair Council Expert Panel – a group of leading professionals who are experts in their respective fields.

Dr Wadstein has held many leading professorships throughout his career, as well as several honorary professorships globally. Dr Wadstein is also known for his research within hair growth disorders and their treatment over two decades, having published several papers in leading, peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Thom has been a Director at Ciba-Geigy, as well as a Director for many years at Parexel with over 15,000 employees operating in 50+ countries – one of the world’s largest comprehensive drug development and contract research organisations. Dr Thom is known for his research within hair growth disorders and their treatment over two decades, having published several papers in leading, peer-reviewed journals.

With a Master in Dermatology from the University of São Paulo Medical School and as a specialist at the SBD, he is also an active member of the Brazilian Dermatology Surgery Society, member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and Vice-President at the Brazilian Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (2015-2016).

With over 30 research publications and medical book chapters published in the field of dermatology, Dr Al Hammadi is an active Associate Professor across several UAE universities. In his early medical career he completed a Fellowship and Thesis on “Psoriatic arthritis” from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA, obtained a Teaching Award (first time to be given to a fellow), as well as numerous awards thereafter such as Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Distinction, Dubai, UAE and American Academy of Dermatology Bronze Award for Volunteerism, San Antonio, USA. Following his fellowship, Dr Al Hammadi completed a resident role at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he still remains a reviewer for Canadian Family Physician Journal – Dermatology section, and was a contributor to “Stiefel” Dermatology Board Review 2007 edition and 2008 edition.

Daniela did her speciality in dermatology at the Dermatological Institute of Guadalajara / Jalisco and has a postgraduate degree in hair diseases and cosmetic dermatology from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, United States. In addition, she has a master’s degree in trichology and hair transplantation from the Alcalá de Henares University (UAH) of Spain.
Dr Guzmán is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the North American Hair Research Society. She is also a member of the Mexican Academy of Dermatology and the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology (CILAD). Additionally, Daniela is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Guadalajara and is part of the board of directors of the Mexican Society of Trichology.

Dr. Firooz got his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the School of Medicine of TUMS in 1990, then completed his residency in the Department of Dermatology of TUMS, receiving a National Board Certification in Dermatology from the Iranian Ministry of Health in 1995.
Dr. Firooz completed a Research Fellowship in Immunohematology, at the Centre for Blood Research, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA in 1993 – 1994, as well as a Fellowship in Dermatology & Allergology at the Department of Dermatology, Freie University, Berlin, Germany, in 2002.
He is a member of several international organizations including the Society for Investigative Dermatology, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, International Society of Tele dermatology, International Society of Dermatology, and the UK Clinical Trial Network.
Dr. Alireza Firooz has published more than 200 papers, the majority being in prestigious peer reviewed journals and has a H-index of 31. He is the Chief Editor of the Journal of Dermatology & Cosmetic, Editor of Case Reports in Dermatological Medicine, and Section Editor of Dermatologic Therapy.

An effective member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology in Paraná, his detailed work has put him as well renowned dermatological surgeon; the core of his expertise. Dr Rogério is currently pushing into new areas of hair loss research and is in the process of conducting a prospective clinical study on the use of nutricosmetics in patients with hair loss as the outpatient clinic of Hospital de Clínicas, at the State University of Londrina.

This includes, among others, a position as a solid form foundation scientist at GlaxoSmithKline. Dr Milhem has taken a special interest on the subject of hair loss and hair growth disorders, and has held presentations on the subject in multiple countries around the world which are approved by the local Ministries of Health.

With 12 years of clinical practice and 7 years as a Dermatologist, Dr Marcela Mattos Simões has gone on to have some unique specialisations and honours in recent years including a Scholarship awarded by the American Academy of Dermatology in 2012, Laser & Cosmiatry by Harvard university in 2014, Fellowship in Trichology by Miami University in 2015. She acquired a Masters in Dermatology by the Minas Gerais Medical Sciences College in 2018, received the title of Specialist in Dermatology by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD) and was Head of the Psoriasis Ambulatory of the IPSEMG between 2015 and 2016. An active researcher and publisher of dermatology chapters in books and scientific articles in the areas of hair loss research and treatments. Her clinical strengths include digital assessment with diagnosis & treatment of hair and nail diseases, skin diseases treatment, dermatological surgery, cosmiatry and capillary procedures.

He is in charge of the Hair Restoration Area of the “Dermika Laser Dermatology Center”. He is also an adjunct professor of laser and trichology (hair treatment) courses in the speciality of dermatology at the Jalisco Dermatological Institute and a national and international expert speaker.
Dr Sánchez Dueñas is a member of the Mexican Academy of Dermatology, the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology (CILAD), the Mexican Trichology Society and the American Hair Research Society, among others. He is former president of the Medical College of Dermatologists of Jalisco.

Her extensive experience of more than 15 years has allowed her to be part of various prestigious institutions such as the SNTE Medical Specialties Center and the Monterrey Dermatology Center, places where she is currently attending patients. She is among others an expert in hair disorders, clinical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and facial rejuvenation.
Dr Nelly Espinoza is a professor of dermatology at the University of Monterrey (UDEM). She has been participant, speaker and organizer of various courses and congresses at national and international level, as well as the author and co-author of multiple scientific articles. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Mexican Academy of Dermatology, among others, and is a member of the board of directors of the Mexican Society of Trichology.

Hugo Martínez is part of the MARSU Dermatology Medical Center in Puebla, which offers highly specialized dermatological services, based on scientific evidence and with state-of-the-art technology in all fields of dermatology and trichology (hair treatment).
Dr Martínez is the current President of the Mexican Trichology Society (2020/2021).

Dr Campos graduated at the University of Guadalajara as a surgeon and was later trained as a dermatologist at the prestigious Dermatological Institute “Dr José Barba Rubio” from Jalisco. She has been a speaker at various national and international conferences.
Thanks to this, Dr Campos Cornejo is recognized as one of the foremost specialists in dermatology in Guadalajara, Jalisco. It is also worth mentioning that she was a founding member of the Jalisco College of Dermatology.

He is a graduate of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) in medicine and of the UNAM in dermatology. He did his high speciality in skin cancer and dermatological surgery at the General Hospital of Mexico. In addition, he is constantly participating in multiple national and international courses.
Dr Sánchez is a member of the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology (CILAD) and has published several articles in specialized magazines. He won the award for the best article in the Mexican journal “Dermatology, Cosmetics, Medicine and Surgery”.

Dr Hamideh Moravvej is a professor with expertise in trichology, cosmetology, rejuvenation, tissue engineering and wound healing. She is a respected researcher with 80+ publications. Some of her prominent research is in the field of alopecia areata, lichen planopilaris and androgenetic alopecia.

Zaira is a professor at the Institute of Laser and Hair Aesthetic Medicine (IMELP), an institution endorsed by UNAM that is dedicated to promoting academic excellence and providing the highest level of services to patients. She is also a member of the team of specialists at the “Fuera Calvicie” Hair Restoration Clinic in Polanco, Mexico City.
Meet the Specialists

Dr Acoltzi has specialised in Paediatrics Dermatology at the Children’s Hospital of Mexico and has more than 10 years of experience in the management of alopecia in children and adults.
Dr Acoltzi is regularly updating her knowledge on hair issues and is one of the most recognised specialists in Dermatology and Trichology in Jalisco and Mexico.

Throughout his career he has stood out in several positions of great importance, among which are: Former president of the Mexican Academy of Dermatology, Former President of the Mexican Foundation for Dermatology, Former President and current Permanent Delegate of the Annual Meeting of Latin American Dermatologists (RADLA). He is also an active member of institutions such as the American Academy of Dermatology in the United States, as well as various national and international societies.
Dr Adame is the author of several scientific articles and chapters on dermatology.

She graduated from the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey and did her specialty at the General Hospital of Mexico “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”.
In her private office, Dr Aguilar diagnoses and treats patients regarding clinical dermatology, surgery, aesthetics, cutaneous oncology, and alopecia.
Dr Aguilar is a member of the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology and participates in several international congresses. She was the speaker at the last Global Congress of Dermatology.

He stands out for using efficient and successful treatments and provides comprehensive care for his patients’ recovery. Therefore, Dr Aguilera is a well-recognised doctor in the region of Lindavista.

Dr Aguirre works as a dermatologist in the Unit of Medical Specialties of the Secretariat of National Defense. He is also an associate professor of Dermatology at the University of the Mexican Army and Air Force.
Dr Aguirre has extensive experience and knowledge in the pathology of alopecia and healthy hair.

Later she has specialised in Dermatology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with outstanding participation in her class year.
Dr Albavera is an active member of the Mexican Society of Dermatology. She is currently working as a dermatologist at the renowned Hospital Angeles del Pedregal, where she has extensive experience in treating hair diseases.

Dr Álvarez is certified by the Mexican Council of Dermatology. She worked at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and as a professor of selected dermatology topics at the College of Gynaecological and Obstetrician Physicians of the state of Jalisco (COLGINJAL).
Dr Álvarez actively participates in multiple conferences stressing the importance of treating hair conditions, such as alopecia. Her experience makes her a recognised dermatologist in Jalisco and throughout Mexico.

She specialised in Internal Medicine and Dermatology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She was awarded a fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatology with Dr Javier Ruiz Ávila.
Dr Álvarez Hernández is certified by the Mexican Council of Dermatology. She is also an active member of the Dermatology Mexican Foundation, the Mexican Academy of Dermatology and the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology.

Dr Arias Gómez trained as a surgeon at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and studied dermatology at the Dr. Eduardo Liceaga General Hospital of Mexico. She has a subspecialty in Medical Mycology from the General Hospital of Mexico.
Dr Arias Gómez is recognized as a skilled specialist in dermatology in Mexico City and has dedicated many years to teaching and to writing several published articles. She was a Representative Delegate of Mexico in the Reunión anual de Dermatología Latino Americana (RADLA) from 2016 to 2018 and the general secretary of the XXXVI RADLA in Cancun, Mexico in 2018.
Dr Arias Gómez is a member of the Mexican Academy of Dermatology (AMD), the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and a member and co-coordinator of the Grupo Iberolatinoamericano del Estudio del Acné. She is the currently the president of the Mexican College of Dermatological Sciences.
