Meet a selection of the World Hair Council Expert Panel – a group of leading professionals who are experts in their respective fields.
Dr. Bjerring is the former CEO, Medical Director, and Head of Department of Dermatology at Mølholm Hospital in Denmark. Currently, he is Clinical Professor and Senior Consultant at the Department of Dermatology at Aalborg University Hospital and a Senior Consultant in the Department of Dermatology at Bispebjerg Hospital (University of Copenhagen).
Additionally, he is a Fellow of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the Danish Medical Association, and the Danish Dermatological Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology. Professor Bjerring previously served as the President of the European Society for Lasers and Energy-based Devices.
Professor Bjerring has authored or co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers on wide-ranging dermatological and cosmeceutical topics. He has given more than 500 presentations at international scientific congresses and has chaired several global professional meetings.
He was awarded the Aarhus University Research Prize (Gold Medal) for his work on “In vivo Human Reflectance Spectroscopy” and he defended his Doctoral Thesis on cutaneous itch and inflammation. He also received numerous awards, including: the William Nielsen Prize for introducing laser dermatology to Denmark, The Danish Dermatological Society’s Honorary Award, and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery’s Memorial Award.
In 2007, Dr. Bjerring was granted Knighthood by Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark, in recognition of his contributions to Danish dermatology.
Dr. Wadstein has held many leading professorships throughout his career, as well as several honorary professorships globally. Dr. Wadstein is also known for his research within hair growth disorders and their treatment over two decades, having published several papers in leading, peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Thom has been a Director at Ciba-Geigy, as well as a director for many years at Parexel with over 15,000 employees operating in 50+ countries – one of the world’s largest comprehensive drug development and contract research organisations. Dr. Thom is known for his research within hair growth disorders and their treatment over two decades, having published several papers in leading, peer-reviewed journals.
